What makes a magazine?

During the B&A redesign contest, we struggled mightily with the question "What makes a publication scream 'magazine' rather than 'blog'"?

The First Post certainly knows the answer.

yes, thank you for the url. it is an interesting example of web media in several ways.

curious, i wonder where it is within the range of politics to art. what i've seen of its content has me thinking i'll enjoy it as i watch it for some sense of that answer.

it looks done on a shoestring, yet it also looks well done.

i like that.
