Muir woods is just a short drive north. You could be there in under an hour, from San Francisco.

I'm glad you're back. I missed you.

This made me smile.

Yes, I missed you too. I was thrilled to see a number of posts yesterday...

I was also happy to learn of your book the other day. I'll buy it just because your name's on it...a sign of sure quality.

I got a kick out of this:

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones that you did do. So, throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore, dream, discover! (Mark Twain)

In the realm of ideas, everything depends on enthusiasm. In the real world, all rests on perseverance. (Johan von Goethe)

Something good. Hmmm.

Robyn Hitchcock has a new mail-order-only double CD set of him doing nothing but Bob Dylan covers. That way you get to hear Dylan's lyrics but don't have to listen to Dylan's voice.

(a little ponderous here but...)
The things you contribute do nothing to make the world a worse place, and a great deal to make it a better one. This is a rare and special thing, a truth to be prized, and it will be true wherever you go.

Thanks! All this-- you've got me crying, but in a good way.

Plus my husband made me thai chicken soup. YUM!

Bad day? Bad day damnit! Damn bad day. Find the sun.
Sometimes when I feel my worst I know that means I will
be better soon. And then big fat ideas start to perk in my head. Down times can generate all kinds of great things. Wait it out and you will soon be fine.
All the best.

I find a bike ride always helps - right now all the flowers are blooming and it is a great time to STOP and smell the roses. or a brisk drive along the coast, top down on the cabrio and something fun playing on the CD player - currently it's Luce.

I like to shut down the computers and play for a while when nothing seems to work right. Playing with my child does it for me these days. Nothing like screaming at the top of your lungs, spinning around in circles clapping your hands.

Biking, listening to music, going to a museum also seem to work.

Bad week for me too. Luckily I get to stop by to see my new (9 weeks) niece Hope on the way home.

These two pics are cute:

Blame it on the planets and the moon in alignment. I've had a weird few days as well...nothing beats listening to Jimmy Buffett for me with a margarita in hand ;)

Sunday was a new moon... things should be looking up soon.

Soon, wonderful software will make your life easier. Just this afternoon over one thousand graphic designers saw the new software demonstrated in the large air-conditioned grand ballroom of a lovely hotel.

They saw how in just a few mouse clicks great beauty could be created, or the lustre restored to a damaged visual memory. Again and again they laughed, applauded, cheered, and even gasped as surprising new features lived up to the marketing hype.

Perhaps best of all, this great new tool, which you already know how to use, leaves intact, useful and essential your entire knowledge and experience in Information Architecture.

cheers!

i'd be happy to let you use a picture of my face for a persona in your book.

Now that's good news! (I'm not a mom, but I can imagine the joy of seeing the end of diaper changing)
